12 week mentorship

Every two weeks, we will have a 1:1 video call to answer your questions, set your goals and hold you accountable for progress for both your client work and personal projects.
5 critiqued assignments

Over the twelve weeks you will submit five assignments for which I will provide detailed feedback. Assignments range from writing your pitch, improving your portfolio and building a client-oriented website

The goal of the mentorship program is for you to gain clarity on how to best move forward on your creative path. All of our 1:1 calls are geared toward giving you practical steps to move toward goals you set out at the beginning of the mentorship.

I'm a full time freelance motion designer and illustrator.

I'm a creative, just like you. I'm not a rockstar artist or book author teaching freelancing when they no longer live the day-to-day freelancer concerns - my experience and struggles with freelancing are fresh. Five years ago I jumped ship from the comfort of a cushy 9-5 with an Endless Snack Closet and dove straight into full time freelancing. As you put into action all the course content, I will be giving personalized critiques on all your assignments. All of our calls are recorded and collected in one place so you can always review what we cover in the mentorship in your own time.

Every other week I will do an in-depth critique of your assignments and we have an hour-long, 1:1 check-in and conversation about your current struggles (and successes) with client and personal work.

In addition, you will get lifetime access to the course content itself: it's all written, so no skipping back and forth through dozens of five-minute videos. Each topic is broken up into short modules so you can always quickly and easily find the resource you need.

What can I ask you during our mentorship?
Each person’s skills and experience are different and the best way to figure out a way forward is often to seek impartial diagnoses from someone just a few steps ahead in the creative journey. My clients hail from all over the world and work in fields from illustration to video production to motion design to graphic and tattoo design. The content of the mentorship is up to you – some recurring topics are: portfolio reviews, refining your creative service as a freelancer, how to set up personal projects, how and where to find clients, how to schedule freelance life, diagnoses on what's working and not working in your current freelance business.
How much time will the mentorship take up in the week?
You'll get out of this mentorship what you put in. Some folks are able to put in about five hours a week, some can put in more. If you are currently unable to spare five hours a week to work on your creative freelance business, wait until you do have that time before you sign up for the mentorship.
Who is this course suitable for?
Creatives who are stuck at full time jobs and want to make the leap into freelancing. Creatives who have been freelancing for a while but now their client revenue or personal output is stagnating. Creatives who have an established freelance business but don't have a personal vision for their personal work as well as those who need a fresh pair of eyes to point out what is or is not working about their approach to freelance. Creatives looking to get into remote freelancing full time.
Who is this not suitable for?
Those who need to make money NOW. The mentorship does not contain tips or "tricks" to help you make a quick buck. My philosophy is all about putting in time and effort to build a sustaining, lasting business and creative practice.
I've gotten a lot of success in the past, but now I'm struggling with my freelance business. Will I get a lot out of this mentorship?
Yes. The beauty of a mentorship is that you get to work with me directly, so I tailor all feedback to your current situation. All freelancers experience this cycle - they start off with one approach, it works for a while, but then it stops working. The landscape of work is constantly changing and a freelancer has to keep changing with their creative field. The contents of the mentorship focus on strategies to build your business so that it remains adaptable and becomes more valuable as your experience with freelance (and your creative practice) grows.
Can I transition from the self-paced course to the mentorship program?
Yes. Just shoot me an email and I will send you a signup link for the mentorship less the cost of the self-paced course you've already signed up for. You will be assigned a seat at the next available round of mentorships.
Is there a money back guarantee?
Yes. The mentorship is paid upfront and if within the first seven days of the program you are dissatisfied, contact me for a full refund. The same seven day policy applies for the self-paced course.
